Rabbit Project
Unit 1- Commercial Type Breeding Stock
Member to select and rasie a quality buck or doe of a commercial type breed. Members to learn basic rabbit feeding, husbandry, showmanship, grooming, and judging. Animals are to be over 6 months old at the start of the project
Unit 2- Fancy Type Breeding Stock
Member to select and raise a quality buck or doe of a fancy type breed. Members to learn basic rabbit feeding, husbandry, showmanship, grooming, and judging. Animals are to be over 6 months old at the start of the project.
Unit 3- Wool Type Breeding Stock
Member to select and raise a quality buck or doe of a wool type breed. Members to learn basic rabbit feeding husbandry, showmanship, grooming, and judging. Animals are to be over 6 months old at the start of the project.
Unit 4- Doe with Litter
Member to raise a Unit 1, 2 3 or 4 doe from a previous years' achievement, learning rabbit feeding, husbandry, management, sire selection, breeding, and other related topics. Doe to be shown with 5-8 week old kits at achievement day. Litter from a unit 4 project may not be enrolled in any other unit.
Unit 5- Market Rabbit
Member to raise a single fryer rabbit to market weight (8-12 weeks in age, 4-6 lbs or 1.8- 2.7 kg, fit to frame). Member to learn basic rabbit feeding, husbandry, showmanship, grooming, judging, and marketing. Fryers to be exhibited on achievement day.
Unit 6- Pen of Three
Member to raise a pen of three fryer rabbits to market weight (8-12 weeks in age, 4-6
lbs or 1.8- 2.7 kg, fit to frame). Member to learn basic rabbit feeding, husbandry, showmanship, grooming, judging, and marketing. Fryers to be exhibited on achievement day.
Unit 7- Replacement Project
Member to raise one or more rabbits with the intention of using them as future unit 1, 2, 3, or 4 projects. Member to select the best buck and/or doe from their replacement stock and exhibit them at achievement day. Replacement stock is to be under 6 months of age at the start of the project.
Unit 8- Marketable Rabbit Raising( Senior Management)
Member to raise a minimum of three viable litters of young rabbits from birth to weaning age for home use or for sale. Exhibiting at achievement day is not required, but members are encouraged to display and/or explain project to other members.
Unit 9- Advanced Skill( Senior Management)
The member is to select upon approval of the club leader, a project of interest to the member related to the rabbit project. Approval from Youth and Development Staff is required to start this project. Senior Management projects must have records kept for 10-12 months.

- Designing and building a rabbitry
- Skinning and pelting rabbits
- Participating in ann open circuit with purebred rabbits
- Effects of genetics on coat color
- Rabbit agility
